Our team of in-house experts share their must-have festive food for the big day and beyond: it just wouldn't be Christmas without them

For our food expert Chris Newbold, Christmas wouldn't be the same without our exclusive Pembrokeshire turkeys, reared in Wales by expert producer Justin Scale, and grown slowly for an incredible flavour. "The whole family loves it," he says. "Crispy, tender and with plenty of leftovers for turkey sarnies!" Don't forget to serve plenty of bread sauce and cranberry jelly on the side.

British sirloin of beef with shallot stuffing

Our in-house expert Sarah Loxton swears by beef as an impressive alternative to the traditional turkey. "This sirloin comes with a seriously tasty stuffing. I’m giving it pride of place on my Christmas table," she says. Better yet, because it's M&S, you know it's traceable back to a British farm and animal. Serve with all the traditional trimmings and your favourite red wine.

Luxury shellfish platter

"Gathering around this luxurious platter, glass of crisp, cold fizz in hand, is a fantastic way to begin a festive celebration. It feels indulgent and special: what Christmas is all about," says our food expert Andrew Dempsey. It includes Canadian lobster tails; black Vietnamese prawns; crab claws and dressed crab with ready-to-serve garnishes. And since everything is easy to peel and eat, your guests can simply dig in.

Vegan butternut, almond and pecan nut roast

More of us are going meat-free this year, but that doesn' mean missing out on all those indulgent festive flavours. Our M&S food expert Henrietta Cain couldn't be without our vegan nut roast, packed with nuts, cannelini beans, bulgur wheat and roasted butternut squash. "It might be meat-free, but this festive nut roast still makes a wonderful centrepiece, and means my whole family are catered for. In fact, it's often the carnivores who are asking for a second slice!" she says.

For M&S food expert Lesley Anderson, our new prosecco pudding combines the best of new and old traditions. "You can’t beat this modern take on a Christmas pudding with a hint of prosecco for that added dash of festive sparkle. What's not to love?" she says. Simply serve with lashings of brandy cream and butter, and a round of prosecco.

Belgian chocolate and cherry dessert

We took inspiration from the classic flavours of black forest gateau for our showstopping chocolate and cherry dessert, which combines Belgian chocolate mousse with a hidden cherry centre. M&S food expert Daniel Fletcher will be giving it pride of place on his Christmas table this year. "This beautiful dessert tastes as good as it looks," he says. " And the whole family loves it."
